You’re trapped. You groan (most of the time) and sometimes even laugh. That’s the experience of the young book in a picture book, “My Very Punny Dad” by Ryan Milligan illustrated by Justin Castaneda . The boy regales the reader with his torturous day, where his dad tells puns all day. He even finds notes with puns at school.

If you like a good pun and this experience sounds like an experience your kids would enjoy and relate to, then this is a book you should get and read. I read it to my daughters who are are 7 and 8. They gave it a thumbs up. I had to explain some of the puns. They understood some of the puns. They enjoyed the story and even laughed a little. I admit, I enjoyed reading it to my daughters even though I’m not a fan of puns.

I’d recommend this to any dad who loves telling a good joke. I hope dads enjoy reading this to their children as much as I did to mine. I give it a thumbs up, just like my daughters did.
