Importance

My daughter moves too slowly for me.
I am in a rush and a hurry.
She stops to explore her surroundings.
A crumpled piece of trash is astounding.
An ordinary stone is a jewel.
She considers me cruel
when I rush her to move along.
She is right; I am wrong.

Moments should be savored, not rushed.
The wonder of creation should leave us hushed.
Adults miss the awe all around.
Beauty that should astound
is missed as we hasten to do more
rather than, like a child, pause to explore.
Time is a gift to be enjoyed
not a limit, leaving us annoyed.
