I was a baby still in need of a bib
when Daddy placed you in my crib.
I was learning to sleep through the night
when you took away all of my fright.

When I lost you, I would scream
When Daddy found you again I would beam.
Each day my love for you would grow fonder.
Into new unfamiliar realms we would wander.

When Mommy and Daddy were not near,
you were the one to take away my fear.
I needed someone soft to snuggle
when life felt like an unendurable struggle.

You were my solace and my security
as I would develop and grow into maturity.
Our bond remains unbroken even to this day
though I've put childish things away.

Now it is to the cross of Christ that I cling.
He is both my Savior and my king.
I learned of Him from the Bible on your chest.
I have found in Him my true security and rest.
