Why do we hate each other?

When Charlie Kirk died,
Some people cheered
And some people cried
and some people jeered.

For a family, the world tumbled.
A mother lost the only son she had.
A wife lost a husband.
A daughter lost a dad.

Our world is so divided.
Our world is so full of hate.
Everyone one is one sided.
Is dissolution our fate?

When will we look inside
When will we see our own heart?
When will we cease to hide
And stop tearing ourselves apart?

Our selfishness and pride
Is ripping our souls to shreds.
Our love for others has died
As media fuels our heads.

The time is now to turn around
Before it becomes too late
And the final trumpets sound.
Let not hatred determine our fate.

Overcoming Hatred

Our world is full of hatred and division. It’s as if we feed on news that blames others for all our problems. It’s easy to point fingers rather than look inside our own hearts. We are ashamed of who we are, so we find others to blame to hide our own shame.

The world’s problems won’t be solved by fixing someone else. It will be solved when we allow ourselves to be fixed. No one, including myself, wants to look inside and see what’s wrong with ourselves. It’s easier to blame than look at our own shame.

Shame leads to addiction to mask the feelings. Shame leads to hatred so we can feel better about ourselves when someone else appears to be worse than us.

This is the message I’m trying to reach through a story. It’s easy to preach about what we should or should not do, but when you see it through the eyes of the characters in a story, you are moved emotionally and,, if you allow it, can see yourselves in them.

The story is meant to do more than entertain. It’s meant to be the beginning of an ongoing discussion and self-examination. I wrote the story, and it convicts me and shows me areas of my life that need to change. I hope it does for you and your family.

It’s a children’s story that is truly meant to touch the hearts of kids, as well as adults who are willing to read and discuss the story with their kids. It’s also meant for educators and homeschoolers to bring the lesson written on its pages to students and family members.
