Think about Love
1 Corinthians 13
What consumes my heart and mind?
Am I lost in the daily grind?
Does the news corrupt my thoughts,
Tying my soul in painful knots?
It’s easy just to nurse the bad,
To dwell on all that makes us mad.
We fail to guard our heart and soul
And slowly lose what makes us whole.
Instead, let us think about love
That flows from our Father above.
To be more patient and more kind,
And leave the past regrets behind.
Rid yourself of envy and pride;
Let humbleness become your guide.
Let’s not dishonor but instead
Build others up and break our bread.
Let’s not seek our own selfish way,
But serve and give our love away.
Don’t let your anger rule your mood.
Instead, rejoice and seek the good.
Keep no record of wrongs done to you.
Forgive, and let each day start anew.
Refuse to delight in others’ pain;
Let love and mercy always reign.
Speak only truth and speak with love,
A mirror of our God above.
Choose faith and hope through every storm.
Let Christ’s own love become your norm.
Based on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
